Topics
This year, the Autistic Pride Day Symposium centres around the theme of “Taking the Mask Off,” focusing on authenticity and self-expression in all aspects of life. This theme resonates throughout our sessions, emphasising the importance of being true to oneself, particularly in the context of employment, advocacy, and wellbeing.
Authenticity and Employment explores how Autistic people can thrive in the workplace without masking their true selves. Panels and workshops will discuss strategies for creating supportive work environments, enhancing employment opportunities, and fostering inclusive hiring practices. By embracing authenticity, we aim to highlight the unique strengths that we bring to our professions.
Rights and Advocacy sessions provide essential tools for self-advocacy and understanding one’s rights in various settings. These workshops aim to empower participants to navigate the complexities of education, employment, and healthcare while staying true to their identities.
Wellbeing and Inclusive Environments focus on fostering spaces where Autistic individuals can be themselves without feeling the need to mask. Discussions will cover creating neuroaffirming educational environments and holistic approaches to wellbeing, ensuring that all aspects of an individual’s life support their authentic self.
